Chinese Cabbage Seeds - RCC3 Red - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Brassica rapa Pekinensis group. 70-85 days. Cool season annual. This is a red hybrid Chinese Cabbage that everyone has been talking about. Exterior leaves are pink color and interior leaves are red-purple. The color is not as dark as RCC9. This variety is medium bolting and is prone to internal tipburn (decay of inner leaves). There is approximately 3% green Chinese cabbage off type. Prepare fertile, well drained soil that is slightly acidic. Plant in full sun after last frost. Prefers cooler temperatures and best transplanted in early spring or late summer/early fall. Exposing plants to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50°F may result in bolting. Note: Chinese Cabbage requires vernalization. Bud differentiation and bolting results from low temperatures of 41°F for a week or 50°F for two weeks. For spring harvest, transplant seedlings with 5-7 true leaves raised at 73-75°F during the day and over 53°F at night. Providing plants with adequate water and fertilizer after transplanting will promote faster growth. This specialty Chinese Cabbage is fabulous in fresh salad and pickling such as kimcee because of the unique color. Approximately XXXX seeds an ounce.
